Alamo Dressage Association
Invites All Members to the
SUMMER FUN SHOW
21 June 2008
Retama Equestrian Center
Selma, Texas
The Alamo Dressage Association is sponsoring a SUMMER FUN SHOW, which will include a number of classes that do not appear in an ordinary dressage show, and are not so serious as our usual tests, but are a lot more fun!
The classes will be:
Class 1 – Begins 9:30 am, Indoor Arena
Grooming to Win Here is your chance to bring a perfectly turned out horse, with all of the trimmings! You may braid flowers in the mane; wear bandages, and any other thing that might improve the presentation of your horse. Of course, the judge will expect an exquisitely groomed horse as the principal requirement to win the Blue Ribbon. Horses to be tacked up with bridle and saddle, but shown in hand.
Class 2 – Begins 10:15 am, Ring 2
Egg in the Spoon A walk, trot and canter class in which you stay until you drop your egg! Last rider with intact egg wins!
Class 3 Begins 10:45, Grassy Area Near Ring 2
Obedience Class Riders will be required to open and close a gate while mounted, pass through a narrow chute, both forward and backward, pass over rails on the ground, and a variety of other tasks which demonstrate close cooperation between horse and rider! The rider with the shortest elapsed time who completes all of the tasks correctly will win!
Class 4 – Begins 12:00, Indoor Arena
Costume Class Riders will be required to walk, trot and canter in a costume of their choice. Winner will be picked based on costume design, execution, and appropriateness. Horses may also wear a complimentary saddle, a pad, or other decorations.
Class 5 – Begins 10:00, Indoor Arena
Dressage Suitability Owners, Trainers and Handlers may present breeding stock, stallions, geldings, mares and youngsters in hand for judging of their suitability for dressage, based on conformation, gaits and character. If sufficient entries are received, ADA will break this class into separate classes for each category of entered horses.
Class 6 – Begins 10:30, Ring 2
Pairs Class Riders will show in pairs in routines of their own choice, and at whatever level of difficulty they choose, with or without music. The judge will determine the winning pair using the appropriate USDF criteria for Pas de Deux classes.
Class 7 – Begins 11:30, Ring 3
Pass the Baton Teams of two riders to ride against the clock with each rider making a round of the course in a particular gait, and then passing the baton to the next rider who will do the same. This will be accomplished first at the walk, then trot, and then canter. Team with the fastest time will win. If the competitors wish to compete directly, all teams will go at the same time!
Lunch at 12:30 for everybody, compliments of the Riding Light Center, and the monthly ADA Board of Directors meeting will be held at the same time, and everyone is invited to the meeting!
